Description: Uchuva, also known as golden berry, is a small, round fruit with a papery outer husk that encases a sweet and tangy yellow-orange fruit. The skin of the fruit is initially waxy and slightly sticky when removed from the husk, giving way to a smooth and taut consistency. Filled with many small, crunchy, and edible, cream-colored seeds.
Properties: Uchuva is a good source of vitamins A and C, as well as antioxidants that may contribute to overall health. It is also rich in dietary fiber.
Use and Applications: Consumed fresh as table fruit, also used for the preparation of salads, jams, sauce and desserts. They can be processed into beverages such as nectars, juices, among others.
